There are several other online systems that may be used in your courses here in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies.

AppalNet and ASU Email

Appalachian State’s AppalNet Portal is your one-stop source for information and resources from the Appalachian State community. Inside you will find faculty, staff and student resources, including academic information, as well as updated calendaring, email, and groups.

ASU Password Manager

You ASU password is used on many campus online systems, including email and AsULearn. Use this page to establish or change your secure password. Also links are provided here for instructions to reset a forgotten password.

Google Groups

Some programs and cohorts have Google Groups established that facilitate large-group discussions and news. Your instructor will tell you if your cohort is using Google Groups. There is online help available on the Google website.

RCOE Discussion Forums

Course in the department may use the discussion forums website for the Reich College of Education. Your instructor will tell you if your class is using the forums and the name of your discussion board. There is a page of frequently asked questions on the forum website that will help answer questions you have about using the system.


Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Skype has become popular in many online courses for features which include instant messaging, file transfer, and video conferencing. The mission of the Distance Learning Library Services Team at Appalachian State is to support off-campus students.

Faculty Web Pages

Some faculty in the department create their own websites with course information. Your instructor should let you know the address of the site and what materials are required.
